Description:

This two day seminar is designed to advance clinical competence in treating upper extremity pain associated with tendinopathy and neural compression. A thorough review of pain science, tendon and nerve structure, physiology and pathomechanics will create a foundation for proper intervention for pain reduction, tissue health and engagement in life. Course content includes current conservative treatment options, activity analysis, activity modification, orthotic options, soft tissue mobilization, tissue loading and lifestyle strategies. The student will participate in lecture and discussion before implementing assessment and treatment strategies in laboratory sessions.Education level : Beginner to intermediate level course.Target Audience : OTs, COTAs, PTs, and PTAs

Course Objectives:
  1. Identify current evidence that applies to evaluation and treatment of pathologies presented.
  2. Identify sound bio-psychosocially based treatment plans for management of tendon and nerve pain in the upper extremity.
  3. Select appropriate orthotic and immobilization strategies to support tissue healing and regeneration.
  4. Demonstrate loading and soft tissue mobilization techniques to support remediation of presented pathologies.
  5. Identify appropriate activity modification and lifestyle redesign to support tissue healing and regeneration
